CompareIT
A SaaS platform for finding and comparing managed service providers, with the search, data model and later AI-assisted matching built as the backend.
What it is
CompareIT is a SaaS product that helps businesses discover and compare managed service providers. It combines structured company data with search, filtering and, later, a way to describe what you need in ordinary language.
The picture is the product’s public homepage. The work on this engagement was the backend, not that marketing page.
The business problem
A directory is only useful if the data is consistent and the ranking means something. Information had been collected from several outside sources, and it needed to become one model that could be searched, filtered and ordered against what a customer actually wanted.
The work
The Laravel API behind search and filtering was designed and built, including the work of turning mixed source data into a model that could be queried reliably. The matching and weighting that ranks providers uses factors such as location, company characteristics and the other business data available.
Later, AI-assisted search was added with the OpenAI API. A person can describe the provider they want in a sentence. The model turns that into structured search parameters, which the existing search engine then runs. The assistant does not replace the search. It translates the question into something the search already understands.
The React interface was built by another developer. The work here stayed with the API, the data, the ranking and the AI-assisted search, in discussion with that developer and with the people responsible for the product as the requirements moved.
Why it is here
It is the clearest example of a commercial product where the difficult part is the data and the way a plain-language request becomes a precise query. That is the same shape of problem as a good deal of business automation.
